Pauline Oostenrijk

Pauline Oostenrijk studied oboe and piano at the Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam as well as Nederlandse Taal en Cultuur at the Universiteit Utrecht. As an oboist she won several prizes, such as first prize at the IDRS Fernand Gillet oboe competition in Baltimore, which existed of a recital at Carnegie Hall. In 1999 she received the Nederlandse Muziek Prijs (Dutch Music Award), the highest state award for classical music. Pauline was principal oboist at the Residentie Orkest in the Hague from 1993 to 2018. Lots of cd-recordings bear witness of her activities as a soloist and chamber musician. Several composers dedicated work to her, including Louis Andriessen (“To Pauline O” for oboe solo). Since 2018 Pauline is an oboe professor at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen.
